Sawyer Nelson couldn't be happier than he already was, since his new friend, the bottlenose dolphin named Winter, was finally able to swim again with the help of a special silicone gel sleeve, which was designed by Dr. Cameron McCarthy, who was an expert in helping soldiers recover from devastating war wounds by using prosthetics.

The "Save Winter" event was a complete success, from having lots of merchandise, with photographs, coffee cups, hats, and stuffed animals that sold out.

The food was delicious, with "world-famous lemonde icicles being served by Hazel Haskett, the daughter of Dr. Clay Haskett, and "Dr. McC's Chilli Burgers" being made by Sawyer's uncle Max.

There was one moment that Sawyer couldn't forget, or even get away from his mind.

After his older cousin, Kyle, had beaten his rival, Donovan Peck, in a race at the event, Sawyer gave Hazel a high five so hard that she almost fell into the water, but Sawyer caught her hand, and pulled her very close to him.

For a quick few seconds, Sawyer felt embarrassed, and actually thought that they would kiss, but the moment was over when Hazel pushed him back into the water.

Ever since they had first met, Hazel had become Sawyer's friend, besides Winter, and he thought if what would happen if she became more than just her friend.

Hazel had a lot of great qualities; she was pretty and funny, sweet and kind.

Even though both of them were very young, it was like they just might be right for each other.

Clay and Sawyer's mother, Lorraine, had recently started dating, and the same was going just great for Kyle, who began to go out with the beautiful Bay News 9 weather forecaster, Sandra Sinclair.

It was only just a few weeks after the "Save Winter" event, and one night, Sawyer had lots of time on his hands before he had to go home, so Sawyer headed for the Clearwater Marine Hospital with his bike, and coming back to see Winter always felt so natural to Sawyer as coming home after a long day with school involved.

The hospital was struggling with financial issues before, and the board of directors had agreed to close it down, and sell the land to a real estate developer named Philip J. Hordern, who would be hoping to construct a brand new hotel on the land.

At the event, the board had learned that the real estate deal closed (thus selling the facility); however, Mr. Hodern, who attended the event with his grandchildren, agreed to allow the hospital to remain open, and gave a check to Clay to help him out.

Sawyer walked over to the familiar 80,000-gallon pool his mammal friend had been living in since she was rescued by him months weeks ago. Even though her name wasn't even called, Winter had quickly popped up to the surface, and made her signature 'Tweety Bird' noise.

"Hey, Winter! Did you enjoy finally swimming again?" Sawyer asked, and Winter happily gave a nod, and continued with her famous noise, meaning that she loved it.

"I'm glad to hear it, and I'm sure that you want to play for a while?" Sawyer asked, and Winter swam around to bring him the yellow duck toy that she loved to play with, like so many times before.

Sawyer slipped off his flip-flops, and climbed up the short ladder, and slowly down nto the pool.

The boy and his mammal friend soon began a game of tug-and-war, with Winter frequently splashing water at Sawyer, but stopped when he called her name.

"Don't worry, Winter. My clothes have gotten wet before, so it's not really something to worry about for me. See?" Sawyer replied, and showed that he didn't care by taking off his t-shirt, and having it float around the pool.

"It doesn't matter at all." Sawyer added, and swam over to her, and kindly rested his hand on the dolphin's back, but the sweet moment ended when a familar voice interrupted both their thoughts.

"Looks like you're still sneaking in, huh?" Both the boy and the dolphin turned to see that it was Hazel, and Sawyer instantly became more embarrassed with the fact that he wasn't wearing a shirt.

"Hazel! I hope you don't mind it if me and Winter spend some time together tonight?" Sawyer asked, even though he knew that both he and Hazel had hung out with Winter many nights before.

"Of course, I don't mind! I just want to know why you don't have your shirt on." Hazel mentioned, while pointing over to his soaked article of clothing.

"I wanted to show Winter that I didn't care whether my clothes got wet, and so I took my shirt off to prove that. It was a great idea, wasn't it?" Sawyer asked.

"I guess so, but you should know that you didn't have to sneak in here. Anyone could have let you in, whether it was my dad or Phoebe." Hazel reminded.

"Yeah, I know, but it's just more fun and adventurous to sneak in. Don't you think that it's more boring to knock on the door, and have someone come to let you in?" Sawyer asked.

"Actually, I do, and I'd like to thank you, Sawyer, because if you hadn't found Winter on the beach, then she wouldn't' be here, and I'm so glad that she is though." Hazel responded.

"Me too, so anyway, would you like to join us, unless you have other plans, like doing work?" Sawyer asked, even though he was nervous about what her answer would be.

"I'm not so sure, and besides, I wouldn't want to get my good clothes soaked." Hazel replied, but Sawyer had still wanted to spend time with her, so he came up with a good reason for Hazel.

"Please, I insist, and if your dad gets upset, just tell him that I convinced you to have some fun. You wouldn't want Winter to come over and get you drenched, right?" Sawyer asked, and Hazel was now immediately reconsidering his offer.

"Okay, I'll join you, and so what game were you playing with Winter before I came here?" Hazel asked, while she slowly stepped down the ladder into the pool.

"We were playing a game of tug-of-war, while using Winter's favourite toy, which is the yellow duck." Sawyer answered, and became even more flustered when Hazel came closer to him and Winter.

"Sawyer, is something wrong?" Hazel asked, and he quickly snapped out of it, and did his best in his head to come up with something nice and sweet to say to her.

"Oh, nothing's wrong. It's just that I think you're really pretty, and I'm sorry if I haven't told you before." Sawyer replied, and Hazel started to feel more flustered herself.

"Thank you, Sawyer, and you don't have to apologize, because I've actually known that for a while, especially from a few times of how you looked at me." Hazel explained.

"So, what do you think about me? I mean, did you ever think that I was cute, or something like that?" Sawyer asked, while becoming more surprised with where the converstation was now going.

"Honestly, when I first met you, I thought that you were very shy and awkward, but when you and Winter spent more time together, you were more fun, bright, and sweet. Why do you want to know?" Hazel asked.

"Ever since the 'Save Winter' event, I've been thinking about you differently, like I want us to be more than friends. Have you started thinking that way too?" Sawyer asked.

"Actually, yes, I have been getting the same feelings, and that's why I wanted to tell you that I love you, Sawyer, and I do want us to be more than just friends." Hazel responded.

"That's great, and I love you too, very much. I hope you don't mind it if I told you that I wanted to kiss you right now?" Sawyer asked.

"Yes, but only if you can catch me first." Hazel answered, and swam over to the ladder, and quickly climbed out.

"I'm sorry, Winter, but I really do like Hazel, so you wouldn't mind if I go find her?" Sawyer asked, and Winter happily responded by repeating her tweety bird noise.

"Thanks, buddy." Sawyer said, while giving his friend a smile, before going to the ladder, and climbing out as well.

Even though he was barefoot, shirtless, and obviously very cold, Sawyer didn't care at all about his state of clothing or his body temperature.

It wasn't so hard to find Hazel, who was standing in front of the viewing window for the dolphins, Krista and Panama.

At first, Sawyer was going to turn the girl around, and pull her in for a kiss, but instead, he decided to stand beside her, and wait for the dolphins to pass by.

Both the kids made a happy sigh when the mammals glided past the window, and Sawyer and Hazel gave a wave right before the dolphins disappeared.

"They're beautiful, aren't they?" Hazel asked, and Sawyer instantly turned to the girl and took her hands with his.

"Yes, and you're just as beautiful too." Sawyer said, before coming forward and giving Hazel a dip and kissed her passionately.

After that night, the two of them were so delighted and happy to be dating, with them beging boyfriend and girlfriend for the rest of the summer.

Fin
Sawyer discovers that he has developed romantic feelings for Hazel, and when she comes by to the hospital while he's visiting Winter, he believes that the time is right to tell her how he feels.
